Understand the main markets
Market prices change constantly. This page explains what the main categories represent; it does not display live quotes.
Stocks
A share represents ownership in a company. Stock indexes track a selected group of companies using a defined methodology. An index is not the same thing as the entire stock market, and its performance does not represent every investor's result.
Bonds
A bond is a form of borrowing by a government or company. Bond prices generally move in the opposite direction to market yields for existing fixed-rate bonds: when yields rise, existing bonds with lower coupons often become less valuable. Credit risk and maturity also matter.
Commodities
Gold, oil, and agricultural products are influenced by supply, demand, inventories, currency movements, and geopolitical events. Futures prices are not necessarily the same as local retail prices.
Currencies
Currency pairs show the price of one currency in terms of another. Exchange rates can move with interest-rate expectations, trade, capital flows, and confidence. Retail customers may receive a different rate after spreads and fees.
How to read a market quote
- Check the exact instrument or index name.
- Look for the currency and measurement unit.
- Check the timestamp and time zone.
- Find out whether data is live, delayed, or end-of-day.
- Read the provider's methodology and terms.
Data note: Capitrove has not connected a live market-data feed. We will not present invented prices as real data.
